Ozploitation: 1970s Australian Grindhouse Masterpieces
Ozploitation: 1970s Australian Grindhouse Masterpieces is a weekly screening series that is hosted by The Trylon Microcinema, located on Minnehaha Avenue in Minneapolis. Recent screenings include George Miller’s 1979 cult classic Mad Max starring Mel Gibson and Ted Kotcheff’s 1971 Wake In Fright.
In 1970s Australia, gritty and challenging films in the horror, comedy and action genres, appeared in tandem with the high-end products of the Australian New Wave. Made with abandon, they often created dangerous situations for cast and crew. The Ozploitation series in 2016 takes place on Mondays and Tuesdays in July at the Trylon Microcinema.
