According to the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph, Danny Boyle has purchased the rights to another book about Mumbai and its culture, titled Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found. This is according to a statement by Simon Beaufoy, who won an Oscar for his Slumdog Millionaire screenplay.
Beaufoy is also attached to write the script for the new film, and Boyle is currently gathering the Slumdog filmmaking team for the new project, according to the report.
Maximum City is a non-fiction book by Suketu Mehta, which was in contention for the Pulitzer Prize in 2005. It is described as part travelogue, part memoir, and gives a colourful overview of Mumbai’s history and people.
