British director Simon Hunter’s sci-fi action thriller The Mutant Chronicles is set to begin shooting in early summer in London, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Producer Edward J. Pressman made the announcement on March 24 that John Malkovich will portray a 23rd-century corporate overlord opposite Thomas Jane in the film.
Malkovich’s character is named Constantine, and heads a United Nations-type council of four countries that have pillaged the Earth’s natural resources. Jane plays Major Mitch Hunter, a Marine who leads what remains of the human race against an army of underworld NecroMutants, led by Malkovich.
The story is based on the popular role-playing board game of the same name. Philip Eisner (Event Horizon) wrote the screenplay for The Mutant Chronicles.
