Paul W.S. Anderson returns with another edition of Resident Evil, this one titled Resident Evil: Retribution. The film stars Milla Jovovich, Kevin Durand, Michelle Rodriguez, Boris Kodjoe, Jason Isaacs, Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, Johann Urb, Bingbing Li, Shawn Roberts and Colin Salmon, and continues the story that ended in cliffhanger fashion in Afterlife. The trailer labels Resident Evil: Retribution as being shot in IMAX 3D, but I’m not sure if that means segments were shot with the mega-cameas, or just certain scenes. Could be that Retribution was shot with the same rigs as Afterlife, which were from Avatar.
In Resident Evil: Retribution, The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak – a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington DC, and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. Boris Kodjoe returns for the sequel, along with series favorite Michelle Rodriguez. The film also stars Oded Fehr, Kevin Durand and Bingbing Li, who played Shangguan Jing’er in Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame.
