A “Parade of 1000 Rockys” followed by a Celebration of Rocky will take place tomorrow, November 8th, to celebrate the release of Rocky The Undisputed Collection.
The event kicks off at Love Park at 10am with a “Parade of 1000 Rockys”, who will all be wearing striking gold and black Rocky Balboa “The Italian Stallion” Robes – en route to the Philadelphia Museum of Art – capped off with a Celebration of Rocky Block party at the popular Rocky Statue at the base of the famed “Rocky Steps”. The Celebration is to promote Rocky The Undisputed Collection, which features all six Rocky films together on stunning Blu-ray Disc for the first time ever, from MGM Home Entertainment, which is available in stores now.
Featured at the Celebration of Rocky will be a meet and greet with Danny Bonaduce, a Tony Luke’s Cheese Steak-eating contest, with contestants wearing Everlast boxing gloves, as well as Tony Luke’s “Pronto” sampling, a Rocky look-a-like contest, and free giveaways including Snapple, Tastykakes and Pretzels from Philly Soft Pretzel.
Sylvester Stallone’s original Rocky was first released in 1976, and was directed John G. Avildsen, who also helmed The Karate Kid and Lean on Me. Rocky starred Stallone, along with Talia Shire, Burt Young, Carl Weathers, Thayer David, Joe Spinell, Jimmy Gambina, George Memmoli, Bill Baldwin, Billy Sands, Don Sherman, Shirley O’Hara, Arnold Johnson, Tony Burton, Jodi Letizia, Burgess Meredith and Al Silvani.
