Eric McLeod and David Venghaus, who worked together on Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, have joined the ranks of DevaShard, the fantasy adaptation recently picked up by Vanquish Motion Pictures, that’s based on eastern mythology.
Vanquish’s Jay Douglas and Nav Gupta are writing the script and will produce the film with McLeod. Heather Kenealy is co-writing the screenplay, which is based on a treatment by Underworld co-creator Kevin Grevioux, who’s also serving as Executive Producer with Venghaus.
DevaShard, published by Hong Kong’s Fluid Comics, chronicles two rival young warriors – one a cursed demon, the other blessed with divinity – whose intertwined fates lead them to the eve of a grand war. The first two books of the series were unveiled at San Diego Comic Con this year and will hit stores this coming December.
McLeod is currently producing Tony Scott and Denzel Washington’s Unstoppable, as well as Bioshock for Universal and Jerry Bruckheimer’s Prince of Persia, while Venghaus just wrapped Art Director duties on Robert Zemeckis’ A Christmas Carol.
