Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, Doomsday, upcoming Centurion), who write and directed the first Descent, is taking an exec producer-backseat on The Descent sequel. Jon Harris, who edited the original cult horror classic (yup, that’s right), as well as Snatch and Layer Cake, makes his directorial debut on The Descent: Part 2.
The sequel revolves around a distraught, confused, and half-wild with fear Sarah Carter (Macdonald), who emerges alone from the Appalachian cave system where she encountered unspeakable terrors. Unable to plausibly explain to authorities what happened – or why she’s covered in her friends’ blood – she’s forced back to the subterranean depths to help locate her five missing companions. As the rescue party drives deeper into uncharted caverns, nightmarish visions of the recent past start to haunt Sarah. Subjected to the suspicion and mistrust of the group and confronted once more by the savagely ruthless ‘Crawlers’, Sarah must draw on all her inner strength and courage in a desperate struggle for survival.
The Descent: Part 2 stars Shauna Macdonald and Natalie Jackson Mendoza from the original film, plus Krysten Cummings, Gavan O’Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge, MyAnna Buring, Nora-Jane Noone and Alex Reid. It will be released in U.K. and other European countries in October.
