On the heels of the first 3D-imbued Comic-Con panels this year, MYV Movies reports that director Jon Favreau confirmed that there’s a good chance that Iron Man 2 will be released on IMAX screens, and that he wants to shoot either Iron Man 3 or the 2012 Avengers movie in 3-D.
“[I like the idea of] either shooting in the IMAX format, or blowing it up to IMAX.”
Favreau made that statement to MTV Movies when asked about his plans for Iron Man 2. He’s also keen on Iron Man 3 or the Avengers film being shot in 3-D, saying:
“I really love the 3-D,” said Favreau. “I think Up was probably my favorite movie I’ve seen this year.”
The director began considering using the technology after seeing footage of James Cameron’s Avatar, according to reports. If Favreau has his way, he’d like at least one of those films to be in 3-D.
Marvel plans to make at least one more Iron Man movie, and then shoot The Avengers film for a 2012 release, which will prominently feature Tony Stark’s character.
