Universal is in early development on the Dark Horse sci-fi property Fear Agent, according to THR’s Risky Business Blog.
The Rick Remender-written Fear Agent follows a colorful, borderline alcoholic astronaut from Texas named Heath Huston, who is a so-called fear agent, the last of a dying breed of spacemen whose job it is to fight threats to the planet Earth, which is partially destroyed during the comic series.
Dark Horse Entertainment, the production banner of the indie comics giant Dark Horse, has been behind a number of comics-to-film hits, including Hellboy and 30 Days of Night. After releasing Hellboy 2 last year, Universal partnered with Dark Horse for an overall production and distribution deal. Now several other Dark Horse properties are in development, including The Secret, an adaptation of the tale of a missing teenager that Scott Milam – who’s written scripts for the upcoming Wichita and Bedlam – is writing; along with the series Emily the Strange.
