If you’re not hitting the beach this weekend (or if it does rain), the Museum of the Moving Image will be hosting a revival screening series of all four Mad Max films. The franchise that was launched by director George Miller in 1979 is crashing back onto the big screen for Memorial Day Weekend. And yes, the series will include the epic Mad Max: Fury Road, which was nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and won six (editing, production design, costume, makeup, sound design, sound mixing).
Check out the complete schedule below for the event, which starts tomorrow at 7PM with a screening of my second favorite of the cinematic quatrain, Mad Max: Fury Road. My favorite of the bunch – and one of the greatest films ever lensed in my opinion – continues to be Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior.
The Museum of the Moving Image is located at 36-01 35th Avenue in Astoria, Queens.
Whatever you get into this weekend, I hope it’s a fun and safe one!
