Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn is having a retrospective screening series of kung fu movies for their ongoing Midnite cult film series. Go get your eyes peeled back all January as Nitehawk unfolds the Legend of 90’s Kung Fu. All screenings will be presented in 35MM.
The series includes screenings of: Once Upon a Time in China II, featuring Jet Li making his return to the role of Chinese hero Wong Fei Hung, along with Rosamund Kwan, Siu Chung Mok, David Chiang and Donnie Yen; Yuen Woo-Ping’s seminal action epic Iron Monkey, starring Rongguang Yu, Donnie Yen, Jean Wang, Sze-Man Tsang, Shun-Yee Yuen and James Wong; The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk, starring Jet Li, Josephine Siao, Michelle Reis and Adam Cheng; and completing the series, Tsui Hark’s The Blade, arguably the best swordplay film ever lensed, starring Wenzhuo Zhao, Xin Xin Xiong, Sonny Song, Valerie Chow and Collin Chou.
Midnite weekend screenings happen on Friday and Saturday nights. Ticket holders should arrive on Friday or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating. Movies start after midnight.
