Ass-kicking action heroines – Underworld Awakening’s Kate Beckinsale and Haywire‘s Gina Carano – are currently being outmatched by the Tuskegee airmen of the George Lucas-produced World War II action-adventure, Red Tails. According to Fandango estimates just released, Red Tails is currently the #1 film on the website, with 27% of all pre-sales.
Red Tails – directed by Anthony Hemingway and produced by Star Wars creator George Lucas – tells the inspirational story of the Tuskegee Airmen, who overcame racism, segregation and apathy to become America’s first African American fighter pilots during World War II, under the guidance of Col. A.J. Bullard (Terrence Howard). The film was shot from a script by John Ridley and Aaron McGruder, creator of The Boondocks.
