Content Film announced the acquisition of Eduardo Sanchez’s latest feature Lovely Molly which premiered in Toronto’s Midnight Madness section last month.
Sanchez, who directed The Blair Witch Project, returns to his horror roots with Lovely Molly, which he also wrote. The film is described as a petrifying and deeply disturbing haunted house possession story with an astonishing debut from Gretchen Lodge. Lovely Molly also stars Johnny Lewis (AVPR: Aliens vs Predator – Requiem, The Runaways) and Alexandra Holden (The Hot Chick, How to Deal).
The film’s story begins when newlywed Molly Reynolds (Gretchen Lodge) returns to her long-abandoned family home, and frightful reminders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. She soon begins an inexorable descent into an evil that blurs the lines between psychosis and possession.
“We were shocked by Gretchen Lodge’s extraordinary performance – it’s a truly sensational debut – in this ultra powerful and intense film from Eduardo Sanchez. We’re delighted to be working with the Haxan and Amber teams on what promises to be a highly innovative and compelling campaign,” said Content Film’s Jamie Carmichael.
Lovely Molly is produced by Robin Cowie (The Blair Witch Project, Seventh Moon, Altered), Gregg Hale (The Blair Witch Project, Seventh Moon, Altered), Jane Fleming (The Frozen Ground), Mark Ordesky (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The New World, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, The Golden Compass).
To support Lovely Molly, the marketing team that successfully pushed The Blair Witch Project has come together once again on this film, creating a multi-layered viral marketing experience which includes hours of original content to be presented in the form of internet Videos, websites, social media, mockumentaries, online ads, television specials, mobile apps, games and more.
