Screen Gems has released the first trailer for Underworld: Awakening, which sees the return of Kate Beckinsale to the role of the vampire assassin Selene.
In Underworld: Awakening, Selene (Beckinsale) returns to life after being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, and soon learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter named Nissa. When she finds her they must stop a company called BioCom from creating super Lycans, made for the express purpose of eliminating all vampires and Lycans. This is the fourth in the Underworld franchise and reveals a new era and chapter to the series, and according to repors, the film may be the start of a new trilogy series.
Underworld: Awakening stars Kate Beckinsale, Charles Dance, Michael Ealy, India Eisley, Stephen Rea, Sandrine Holt, Kris Holden-Ried, Richard Cetrone, Theo James, Robert Lawrenson, Jacob Blair, Ron Wear and Marvin Duerkholz.
The film hits theaters on January 20, 2012.
