Zoe Saldana kicks ass in action-packed trailer for Luc Besson-produced Colombiana

I was really disappointed that the Halle Berry spin-off project Jinx never materialized from the James Bond series. It was to be based on the character Berry played in Die Another Day, Jinx Johnson, a CIA assassin.

Well it looks like Zoe Saldana has picked up the action movie heroine torch with Colombiana, which centers on a young woman who grows up to be a stone-cold assassin after witnessing her parents’ murder as a child in Bogota. And who better to produce an action-packed thrill ride centered on a female assassin that Luc Besson, creator of the original La Femme Nikita.

Colombiana is being directed by Olivier Megaton, who directed Transporter 3, working from a script by Besson and Taken writer Robert Mark Kamen. The film stars Amandla Stenberg, Callum Blue, Cliff Curtis, Michael Vartan, Jordi Mollà, Lennie James, Max Martini, Graham McTavish, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Affif Ben Badra, Monica Acosta, Beau Brasso, Sam Douglas, Jim Nieciecki, Billy Slaughter and Cedric Burton.

Colombiana hits theaters on September 2, 2011, but you can check out the first trailer below.
