The new title reflects the studio’s intention to return the iconic character to his roots, and The Amazing Spider-Man was the name of the Marvel comic book launched by Stan Lee and illustrator Steve Ditko in 1963. The upcoming film will feature Peter Parker in high school, but otherwise, the storyline is being kept under wraps. Columbia has also released the first full body shot of Garfield as Spider-Man.
Marc Webb is currently shooting the 3D film, which also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. James Vanderbilt, Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves wrote the script.
