According to THR (here and here), Martin Sheen and Sally Field are in talks to play Uncle Ben and Aunt May, respectively, in Columbia’s new Spider-Man reboot movie.
As most of us already know, Uncle Ben and Aunt May, are responsible for raising Peter Parker. Ben’s death at the hands of a robber is the key event that turns Parker, who up until then was using his newfound super-powers for personal gain, to step onto the path of heroism.
Sheen and Field would join a cast that already includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as love interest Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as the film’s as-yet-unnamed villain.
Spider-Man is gearing up for a December start, under the direction of (500) Days of Summer helmer Marc Webb.
