James Denton (Desperate Housewives), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) and Anthony LaPaglia will lend their voices to Warner Bros. Animation’s All-Star Superman, the animated film adaptation of the acclaimed comic, according to HeatVision.
All-Star Superman – which has won three Eisner Awards, two Harvey Awards and three Eagle Awards – is the 10th DC Comics story line to be turned into an original animated movie by Warner Premiere and DC Entertainment.
Written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Frank Quitely, the story begins with Superman (Denton) oversaturated by radiation during a rescue mission near the sun, accelerating the degeneration of his cells. Knowing that he has a limited time before he dies, the Man of Steel sets out on a journey that sees him revealing his secret to Lois Lane (Hendricks), giving Lex Luthor (LaPaglia) a revelation on humanity and ensuring the safety of Earth after he’s gone.
Also in the voice cast are Ed Asner as Perry White and Frances Conroy as Ma Kent, along with Linda Cardellini, Arnold Vosloo and Matthew Gray Gubler.
Bruce Timm returns to the executive producing chair for the project, which is due for release this spring, and Sam Liu, who directed the DC animated film Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, will helm the movie from a script by Crisis on Two Earths scribe Dwayne McDuffie.
