ForcesOfGeek posted this new image of the Asgard family, from Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming Thor film, which was originally part of an L.A. Times interview with Branagh and Kevin Feige.
During the interview, it was revealed that Thor will indeed be released in 3-D, and while not actually shot in the format, Marvel Studios claims that Thor’s effects work and post-production have been “conceived and executed from the beginning in 3-D” and a similar process will be used for Joe Johnston’s Captain America, which is currently shooting in London.
Marvel production chief Kevin Feige told the L.A. Times:
In being able to think in 3-D from the start – and having every bit of our special effects rendered in true 3-D – we have the opportunity to do it right… When you’re working with a director like Ken Branagh or Joe Johnston (Captain America), they’re not going to settle for less than perfect image. They’re not going to settle for something that isn’t up to the artistry of everything else they’ve done on the film… they’re not going to put on some overlay in the last 10 to 12 weeks of post-production for a fiscal reason.
All of this ahead of a special Marvel preview of Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, featuring the directors and stars of both films, along with producer Kevin Feige on Saturday from 6-7:00 p.m. inside of Hall H.
Thor, which stars Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Stevenson, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgård, Rene Russo, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Patrick O’Brien Demsey, Eric Allan Kramer, Matthias Schweighöfer, Tadanobu Asano, Matt Battaglia, Adriana Barraza, Michael Papajohn, Joshua Cox and Joshua Dallas, hits theaters on May 6, 2011.
