Samuel L. Jackson – who’s about to appear with Robert Downey Jr. in Nick Fury in Iron Man 2 – and Kellan Lutz – who’s about to get sliced up while napping A Nightmare on Elm Street – are in talks to top-line Deathsport, an indie action movie, according to HeatVisionBlog.
Visual effects supervisor Jonah Loop (Collateral, A Perfect Getaway) is attached to make his directorial debut with Deathsport, which starts lensing next month in Louisiana.
Deathsport centers on a young man (Lutz) who’s kidnapped and forced into the savage world of a modern gladiator arena, where men fight to the death for the entertainment of online viewers. Jackson would play the organizer of the ‘games’, overseeing them from his computer lair with the help of a set of twins who cater to his every desire.
Director Loop, along with Michael Hultquist, Robert Martinez and Tony Giglio developed on the script.
Jackson will also soon appear opposite Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in the cop action comedy The Other Guys, due in theaters on August 6th.
