HeatVisionBlog reports that Taylor Lautner is set to star in Universal Studio’s Stretch Armstrong movie, based on the classic Hasbro toy.
The studio has decided to shoot the film in 3D, which will push back its release date from May 15, 2011 to some time in 2012.
The story sees an uptight spy stumbling across a stretching formula, which he takes and must now adjust to in everyday life and when fighting crime.
According to the report, Taylor also recently signed on to other major action projects including Max Steel and Cancun.
In a related move, Universal pushed back the release date of Battleship, the action thriller based on the Hasbro naval game. The studio is introducing a sci-fi component to that adaptation, and the project was “moved to give it the time and resources to thoroughly realize its huge-scale ambitions and position it for Memorial Day weekend in 2012,” according to a statement.
