Columbia has nabbed a spec script titled Supermax from actors-turned-writers Mitch Rouse and Christopher Nelson, according to THR. Todd Garner is producing the project.
Supermax is an action horror set inside a maximum-security prison for the supernatural, focused on a skilled prison guard who is re-assigned to the facility. After a riot erupts, he must join forces with one of the prison’s monstrous inmates in order to survive and fight his way out.
Garner – who also produced The Fog remake and Ice Cube’s Are We Done Yet? – is also working on Nicolas Cage’s film The Sorcerer’s Apprentice for Disney, due in 2010, and is about to start lensing the action comedy Wichita with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, which James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma) is directing.
Warner Brothers’ is also working on a project titled Super Max, that one based on DC Comics character Green Arrow.
