Morgan Freeman is currently in negotiations to star opposite Bruce Willis in Summit Entertainment’s espionage thriller Red, to be based on the three-book WildStorm/DC comic series, according to Variety.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing the film, with DC’s Gregory Noveck on board as executive producer. Erich and Jon Hoeber are writing the screenplay for the film.
Red, published in 2003 and 2004, was originally written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Cully Hamner, and tells the story of a former black-ops CIA agent now living a normal life in retirement until the day a high-tech assassin shows up with plans to kill him.
