Kevin Grevioux, co-creator of the Underworld series, spoke with Sci-Fi Wire about the upcoming comic and live-action monster movie I, Frankenstein. The writer/actor looked at his own previous work as a model for re-imagining classic fantasy creatures for the new film.
I, Frankenstein combines the stories of Frankenstein’s monster, the Invisible Man, Dracula and other iconic creatures of the night, into one and places them in the all-new context of Dark Haven. Death Ray Films, special effects guru and director Patrick Tatopoulos – who helmed Underworld: Rise of the Lycans – and Grevioux, have teamed to develop the story into a film. I, Frankenstein will also be released as a comic series from Grevioux’ indie label Darkstorm Comics later this year.
Grevioux also discussed the genesis of the story, the mythologies of the characters, as well as his apprehension in creating monster movies, given the mixed results of films like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Van Helsing.
