Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried is currently negotiating to star in the lead role of Babydoll in Zack Snyder’s action fantasy film Sucker Punch, along with Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Snyder is also producing with his partner and wife Deborah Snyder.
Sucker Punch is set in the 1950s, and follows a girl that’s confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternate reality to hide the pain, and in that world, she plans her escape, needing to steal five objects in order to get out before she is raped by a vile man.
Snyder, who co-wrote the script with younger writer Steve Shibuya, has described the fantasy world as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns,” with a mash-up of elements such as dragons, B-52 bombers and brothels.
If all deals go through, the rest would play fellow inmates, who also travel into the alternate reality. Cornish would play the character Sweet Pea, Hudgens would play Blondie, Wood would play Rocket, and Stone would play Amber.
