Liev Schreiber is in negotiations to co-star with Angelina Jolie in the spy thriller Salt for Columbia Pictures according to Variety.
Salt follows CIA agent named Evelyn Salt, who’s fingered as a Russian sleeper spy. She evades capture by her superiors – who are convinced she’s intent on assassinating the president – while attempting to reunite with her family, and prove someone else is the traitor.
Schreiber will play Salt’s boss and friend on the Russian desk at the CIA.
Australian director Phillip Noyce (Blind Fury, Clear and Present Danger, The Saint, Catch a Fire) – who is also attached to the political thriller American Pastoral – will helm the film, which starts shooting next month in New York City.
