At Toy Fair in New York this week, DC Direct revealed their full line of Watchmen collectibles, action figures and busts, that are based on Zack Snyder’s adaptation of the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ graphic novel.
The Watchmen characters are sculpted to reflect the likenesses of the actors who play them, and there are three figure lines, including a 1:6 deluxe scale line, 6.75 inch action figures and porcelain mini-busts. Each is individually numbered and also reflects a limited run number.
Series 1 is already in stores and includes Rorschach, Nite Owl (Modern), Silk Spectre (Modern) and Ozymandias. Series 2 is available starting February 25th (all of the figures are available in the FilmFetish Store) and includes Silk Spectre (Classic), Nite Owl (Classic), Dr. Manhattan and the Comedian.
The Ozymandias and Rorschach hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain busts are currently available, while the Comedian and Dr. Manhattan busts go on sale any day now, and the Silk Spectre and Nite Owl busts will be available on March 4th, just about when the film hits theaters.
The 1:6 scale deluxe collector figures feature the three characters Dr. Manhattan in a removable black suit; the Comedian in his mask, with an added display base; and Rorschach features an intricate and authentically detailed fabric costume with multiple layers, including a suit, boots, a mask and accessories. All of these figures are 13″-16″ tall and packaged in a deluxe 4-color window box with a fifth panel and include a full-color Certificate of Authenticity. They will be available by March 11, 2009.
There are three limited-edition collectible movie props available, including Rorschach’s grappling gun and mask – which comes attached to a display base featuring a Rorschach pattern that is authentic to the movie – which is available now; a set of The Comedian’s sidearms with commemorative handle grips that were presented by President Nixon in the story, along with a plaque recognizing The Comedian’s service to his country, and his military dog tags, all mounted in an acrylic-covered frame, which is available on March 4th; and a 1:24 scale replica of the Owl Ship that was reproduced from the actual blueprints used to make the ship used in the film, which will be available on July 29th.
