For those of you who don’t Know, Wayne Kramer is the amazingly talented young writer/director of The Cooler and Running Scared. Both films were spirited character studies of damaged souls attempting to redeem themselves, while surrounded by other severely damaged and broken souls. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to Kramer’s latest effort – Crossing Over.
Crossing Over follows immigrants from around the world, who enter Los Angeles every day with hopeful visions of a better life, but little notion of what that life may cost. Their desperate scenarios test the humanity of immigration enforcement officers. Writer/director Wayne Kramer explores the allure of the American dream, and the reality that immigrants find, and create, in 21st century L.A.
Kramer’s intersecting stories, both cathartic and tragic, are brought to life by an international ensemble. The film stars Academy Award nominee Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, Cliff Curtis, Jim Sturgess, Alice Eve, Alice Braga, Justin Chon and Summer Bishil.
Frank Marshall produced the MGM picture for The Weinstein Company, and Michael Beugg is executive producer, along with Gregg Taylor co-producing.
Crossing is due in theaters on February 27, 2009.
Below is the newest trailer for Crossing Over, along with the final one sheet.
