The Italian Job director F. Gary Gray is replacing Frank Darabont on the legal thriller Law-Abiding Citizen, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Darabont, who co-wrote the script, recently left the film over creative differences with producers. John Singleton showed interest in the project, but Gray has contracted for the job. Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler are attached to star.
Law-Abiding Citizen centers on a man enraged by a plea bargain to set his family’s killers free and pursues the district attorney who made the deal. Butler, along with Alan Siegel, Lucas Foster and Mark Gill are producing.
In addition to helming a sequel to The Italian Job, which is currently titled The Brazilian Job, Gray is also attached to the thriller Armored, a remake of a French film that Eric Bana is attached to star in.
