According to Variety, Paramount has set up a contract to produce film-themed games to Swedish-based company Accedo Broadband, that will be downloaded on-demand to TVs across Asia.
The first two game titles in the deal will be based on the films Top Gun and Saturday Night Fever. According to Paramount, this will be the first time Hollywood-branded games will be available to TV audiences in Asia.
Areas covered by the deal include Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan where IPTV platforms have had successful commercial launches and subscriber numbers are growing. China, India and Malaysia are also covered under the pact, however digital platforms are at an earlier stage of commercial deployment in those regions.
Subscribers to Accedo’s Funspot game channels can play the games with their TV or set-top box remote controls.
