According to The Post Chronicle Newspaper’s online edition, Brad Pitt has been tapped to REINVENT theMission: Impossible franchise’s fortunes by replacing Tom Cruise in the fourth installment.
Cruise, who played agent Ethan Hunt in the action films, was axed by Paramount last month, on August 6, following Mission: Impossible III’s less-than-stellar box office and his “unacceptable conduct” off screen.
Now Pitt, action star veteran of films like Fight Club, Ocean’s 11 and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, is being hailed as a potential savior, despite the fact he recently voiced his aversion to superstar roles, insisting: “Being a part of an ensemble is always more fun, you don’t have to carry the film,” the paper stated.
The original Mission Impossible series, starring Barbara Bain as Cinnamin Carter, Peter Graves as James Phelps, Greg Morris as electronics expert Barney Collier, Martin Landau as Rollin Hand, Peter Lupus and Willy Armitage and Bob Johnson as the Voice on the tapes is FINALLY coming to DVD.
