According to the Hollywood Reporter, actor-comedian Bernie Mac and his producing partner Steven Greenerhave formed production company MacMan Entertainment and have signed a two-year, first-look deal with Lionsgate.
The deal has an option for a third year and marks the first time Lionsgate has partnered with an actor’s company.
The first project to be developed under the deal will be a concert film starring Mac. The deal also includes the making of a series of Dean Martin-style celebrity roasts that will premiere on DVD. A minimum of four will be produced, and Mac will serve as the host.
Bernie Mac is currently working on Ocean’s Thirteen, where he wil reprise his role as Frank Catton and he will also play Bobby Bolivia in director Michael Bay’s live-action Tranformer’s movie. Both films are due in 2007.
