According to the Hollywood Reporter, Zach Snyder, who is currently working hard on Frank Miller’s 300 and also developing Rainbow Six, based on the Tom Clancy best-selling book and video game series, has stepped up to the plate to develop and direct Watchmen, the seminal DC limited series created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Alex Tse, who wrote the Spike Lee-directed Showtime gang drama Sucker Free City, is writing the script of the long-in-dev-hell project, which is being produced by Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin. Watchmen has been attached to such filmmakers as Terry Gilliam, Darren Aronofsky, Paul Greengrass and screenwriter David Hayter. According to the trade, Snyder impressed Warners Brothers with 300, an adaptation of a Frank Miller graphic novel, that he directed and co-wrote. Frank Miller’s 300 revolves around the 480 B.C. Battle of Thermopylae.
